2021 Volunteering Expo: List of Exhibitors

VolunteeringACT is excited to announce that the following exhibitors will be attending the 2021 Volunteering Expo:

ACT Wildlife

ACT Wildlife is a community organisation that rehabilitates orphaned, sick and injured native animals in the ACT, including bats, birds, possums, reptiles, and wombats! 

ACT Wildlife volunteers help to care for the orphaned, sick and injured native wild animals, as well as answer public phone calls, knit possum pouches, assemble aviaries and provide transport. There’s a role for everyone! 

ACT Parks and Conservation Service: ParkCare

ParkCare actively contributes to protecting, enhancing and interpreting the natural and cultural values across ParkCare ensures that the ACT’s nature reserves and national parks are appreciated, protected, and championed by the community. They work with the community to provide opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to become involved in their volunteering programs. 
ParkCare understands that everyone is looking for a different volunteer experience. In an effort to diversify their program, they have four streams of volunteering that include: ParkCare Patch, RangerAssistVisitorAssist, and WildlifeAssist 

Australian National Botanic Gardens

The Australian National Botanic Gardens has the world’s most comprehensive display of living Australian native plants. The Gardens are a place for recreation, inspiration, science and learning. 
The Botanic Gardens Volunteer Programs are diverse and contribute to some of the most essential functions at the Gardens. With a wide variety of volunteering roles, there is sure to be one to suit everyone! 

Basketball ACT

Basketball ACT conducts competitions, development, and performance programs throughout the Canberra region. With over 600 teams, Basketball ACT is one of the largest basketball associations in Australia and has over two hundred referees and officials. 
Basketball ACT owns and operates a fourindoorcourt facility in Belconnen. Basketball ACT is a community, member-based organisation that works closely with school and community clubs in the delivery of basketball. 

Canberra Multicultural Service (CMS) Radio

Canberra Multicultural Service (CMS FM 91.1) is a multicultural radio station that has been serving the Canberra region with up to date local, national, and international news, culture, music, and other programs in more than thirty-five different languages. 
CMS are always looking for volunteer broadcasters to join their multicultural radio programs. Volunteers can choose to join their existing programs or pitch an idea to start a new program, with induction and training provided. 

Canberra Railways Museum

(Capital Region Heritage Trail Ltd)

The Canberra Railway Museum is located in Kingston and the organisation is made up entirely of volunteers. The team are always looking for new people to join them, from all ages and backgrounds. All that’s needed is an interest to work on historic railway rolling stock and to enjoy the company of like-minded people.  

Capital Nordic Walking

Capital Nordic Walking works to build awareness and understanding of what Nordic Walking is about, and why it is considered one of the most effective, low-impact, and safe forms of physical activity for people of all ages, fitness levels, and health goals. 
The Nordic Walking Community Outreach program is a group of walkers supported by a wonderful network of trained volunteers. Volunteers coordinate free group walks every week, where Nordic Walkers of all ages and fitness levels get together. Being connected with others makes this Community Outreach program a success.  

Capital Region Community Services

Capital Region Community Services (CRCS) provides a wide range of high quality, integrated, and inclusive programs and services to individuals, families, children, and young people in the Belconnen and wider Capital Region. 
CRCS has an exciting range of volunteering opportunities available, including community transport driving, English Conversation Groups, social groups for older Canberrans, and more.  


Communities@Work provides a wide range of early education, care, and community services across the ACT and greater region. They deliver high-quality services that support positive educational outcomes, assist in alleviating hardship, enhance quality of life, and lead to positive social change. 
The support and commitment of Communities@Work’s passionate volunteers is vital to ensuring the ongoing delivery of their services and programs. 

Community Services #1

Community Services #1 (CS#1) provides emotional and practical support to over 2,000 children, women, and men every year. Their programs and services include early childhood services, transport services, social support groups, housing support, and aged and healthcare services. 
Volunteers play a vital role in delivering CS#1’s high-quality community services and programs, including Gardening for Children, Food Pantry, the Walking School Bus, and more.  

Council on the Ageing ACT

Council on the Ageing ACT (COTA ACT) is an independent, non-political, and non-religious organisation working to protect and promote the well-being, rights and interests of all older people in the ACT, irrespective of socio-economic, ethnic, religious, or cultural background. 
COTA ACT relies on a strong volunteer base and encourages and values the participation of volunteerto shape a just and equitable society for older Canberrans.

Events ACT

EventsACT delivers some of Canberra’s most popular events including Floriade, NightFest, Enlighten, the Canberra Balloon Spectacular, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and much more. 
Each of Event ACT’s events relies on a large volunteer workforce to assist with event operations. Volunteers take on a range of roles within these events such as volunteer leadershipushering, and ticket scanning. There’s a role for everyone! 


GIVIT is a national, online charity connecting those who have with those who need.  

GIVIT provides a platform for those who would like to donate items to those in need of specific items. The GIVIT register includes everything from white goods, to furniture, to homewares, to clothing, to items for young children so that all donations are directly contributing to a specific need. Unable to provide the physical item? Members of the public can also donate financially to fund a particular item! What’s more, the register gives you brief information of who a donation is going to, and all recipients are vetted by the GIVIT team to ensure all donations are meeting actual needs in the community. 

Landcare ACT

Landcare ACT plays an important role in protecting the environment of the three ACT Catchment Groups (Southern ACT, Ginninderra, and Molonglo). Landcare ACT supports caring for our living legacy in urban, peri-urban, and rural areas, parks, reserves, and waterways and supports traditional custodianship methods as part of sustainable natural resource management. 

LandcareACT welcomes new volunteers across their three Catchment Groups. 

Lifeline Canberra

Lifeline Canberra exists to support people in crisis and save the lives of those experiencing thoughts of suicide. For 50 years, Lifeline’s highly skilled volunteers have provided 24/7 support via the 13 11 14 crisis line. 
Lifeline Canberra has several teams looking for volunteers, including highly skilled volunteers to join their Telephone Crisis Support team. These volunteers listen with care and acceptance, whatever the circumstance, and provide support and information to people in need.  

Mental Illness Education ACT (MIEACT)

Mental Illness Education ACT (MIEACT) is the primary local mental health and well-being education provider for workplaces, community groups, and secondary schools across the Canberra region. 
Nearly all of MIEACT’s programs are led and co-designed by volunteers, including Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM), No Labels DoNOHarm, and Any Body’s Cool. The more everyone talks about mental illness, the less stigmatised it will become. 

Meridian Incorporated

Meridian is a peer-lead, community health organisation supporting LGBTIQ people in the ACT and surrounding regions. 
Meridian’s volunteering roles include assisting the organisation in day-to-day operations, involvement in annual events, and volunteer-driven outreach programs. 

Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra (MCCI)

The Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra, MCCI, is a non-profit charity that supports people and communities from culturally and linguistically (CALD) diverse backgrounds in the Illawarra/Shoalhaven and ACT/Queanbeyan regions.  

MCCI deliver a wide range of services in aged care, youth development, community capacity building, stakeholder engagement, volunteering, and training. MCCI values its volunteers, and sees them as members of the MCCI family. 

Northside Community Service

Northside Community Service has been a primary provider of community services in the ACT for 30 years and has grown within the community to meet changing and diverse needs. 
Northside runs a vibrant and engaging volunteering program, operating across all aspects of the organisationand providing volunteers with an opportunity to learn new skills, develop new relationships, and form new connections. Current volunteering programs include PAWS, iSeniors, LIFE, and the Bicycle Library.  

Outward Bound Australia

Outward Bound Australia is a longstanding organisation that provides life changing outdoor experiences to youth across Australia. 

Outward Bound are launching their Volunteering Program; “Re-imagining Outward Bound Australia”, which is a series of volunteering days to work on projects that will enhance and upgrade their main hub in Tharwa, ACT. 

Radio 1RPH

(Print Handicapped Radio of the ACT Inc)

Radio 1RPH is a community broadcaster providing a radio reading service for people who live with print-disabilities, and the listening community. 
As a community broadcaster run almost entirely by volunteers, Radio 1RPH welcomes new volunteers from all backgrounds, including print-disabled people, to join the station and learn how to improve vocational skills and get exposure to the field of media and broadcasting.  

Roundabout Canberra

Roundabout Canberra is a charity run by local volunteers, providing women and families experiencing hardship in the Canberra region with essential items and equipment to ensure the safety of their babies and children.  
Roundabout Canberra is always looking for new volunteers to help achieve their mission: to ensure that every child has a safe start and to ensure that every family has dignity. 


The RSPCA is an independent, community-based charity providing animal care and protection services across the country. RSPCA ACT rely on the community to provide care for the thousands of animals that come into the shelter every year. 
RSPCA’s volunteers provide invaluable assistance in many different areas and are an indispensable part of the organisation. RSPCA ACT are always looking for more volunteer animal foster carers. 

Scouts Australia

Scouts Australia provides fun youth development activities, building resilient and confident boys and girls aged 5 to 25 in the Joey Scout, Cub Scout, Scout, Venturer Scout, and Rover Scout Sections.  Scouts has opportunities for the whole family to be involved. Everyone is welcome, and Scouts values the diversity of their members. 

There are over 30 Scout Groups in the ACT and Scouting has approximately 2,700 members, including youth, non-uniformed and uniformed adults, in the ACT and some 70,000 members nationally. 

St Vincent de Paul Society

As a volunteer-run organisation, the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) is largely carried out by members of the community who generously give their time and skills to help others.  

Volunteering with Vinnies is an enriching, rewarding, and purposeful experience. Volunteer at a Vinnies OShop, for the Night Patrol van, in a mentoring program, or for many other roles!  

Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS)

Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) delivers a wide range of services and is responsible for the management of public open spaces, city places, and more. 
TCCS runs several volunteering programs across a range of areas including ACT Libraries, City Parks, and Domestic Animal Services.

Wellways Australia

Wellways Australia is a not-for-profit provider for mental health, disability, NDIS, community care, and aged care services across Australia. Wellways improves the lives and social inclusion opportunities for mental health consumers and their families, friends, and carers. 
Wellways Life in Community (LinC) volunteering program recognises that social connectedness is vital to the recovery and wellbeing of individuals with mental health issues. 

Woden Community Service (WCS)

Woden Community Service (WCS) is committed to building stronger communities and creating connections for people who may be socially isolated and are seeking purposeful roles in the community. WCS provide a range of services to meet the various needs of people in the Woden area.  

Volunteers play a vital role in making the WCS community vibrant and connected. New volunteers are welcome across a range of programs, including community transport, digital literacy mentors, paint and play assistants, and more! 

Zonta Club of Canberra Inc

Members of Zonta Club of Canberra Breakfast (ZCCB) are women who use their management and leadership skills to achieve positive outcomes for women and girls in the local community and worldwide. 
Zonta Club of Canberra’s community fundraising activities include organising an annual pre-loved fashion sale and a variety of other events throughout the year. Zonta also organises regular friendship and social activities.
