Each year, VolunteeringACT hosts the Volunteer Manager of the Year Award. This Award recognises and celebrates the efforts of Managers and Coordinators of Volunteers who support and facilitate the engagement of volunteers across the Canberra region and acknowledges the critical role Managers and Coordinators of Volunteers have in providing safe and supported volunteering experiences.

Nominations are now open!

VolunteeringACT is delighted to announce nominations are open for the 2021 Volunteer Manager of the Year Award, Canberra region, with the winner to be announced at a ceremony attended by key members of the volunteering sector.

The awards ceremony is usually held on International Volunteer Managers Day, 5 November 2021, however, the decision has been made to postpone the event to ensure that all nominees can be celebrated properly once COVID-19 restrictions have fully eased.

With this in mind, the recipient of the 2021 Volunteer Manager of the Year award will be announced at a celebration event in early 2022. This event will see Managers and Coordinators of Volunteers across the region come together in person to recognise and celebrate the contribution of their profession that supports volunteering across Canberra.

Jessica took home the Award in 2020 for her tireless work in building MIEACT’s volunteer base in an authentic and person-centred way, recruiting over 145 volunteers to share their lived experience of a mental illness across mental health education sessions for young people and organisations in the Canberra region.
